How to choose a digital marketing agency in Bangladesh: 12 questions to ask and 7 red flags

A practical 2026 buyer's guide: what to check, 12 questions to ask, 7 red flags to avoid and how to compare agency quotes in Bangladesh.

How to choose a digital marketing agency in Bangladesh: 12 questions to ask and 7 red flags

There are hundreds of digital marketing agencies in Bangladesh, and from the outside they all look the same. Every website promises “result-driven marketing”. Every proposal has the same logos. And almost every business owner we talk to has been burned at least once: a big monthly fee, beautiful reports full of likes and reach, and no new customers.

Quick answer: to choose a digital marketing agency in Bangladesh, start with one measurable goal, then shortlist agencies that show real results in your industry, list exact monthly deliverables, keep your ad budget separate, report on leads and sales rather than likes, and let you own your page and ad account. Avoid guaranteed results, 12-month lock-ins and prices that look too good to be true.

This guide helps you choose properly. It covers what to check, the questions to ask before you sign, the red flags that predict a bad fit, and how to compare quotes fairly.

Start with your goal, not the agency

Before you talk to anyone, write down the one result you want in the next three months. Be specific:

  • More Messenger enquiries for your restaurant’s catering
  • More appointment bookings for your clinic
  • More showroom visits for your dealership
  • More qualified leads for your real estate project
  • A strong launch for a new branch

An agency that’s right for an e-commerce brand chasing online sales may be wrong for a clinic that needs local patients. When your goal is clear, it becomes much easier to see which agency actually fits.

Agency, freelancer or in-house?

Option Monthly cost (typical) Good for Risks
Freelancer ৳5,000 – ৳20,000 A single task: design, posting, basic boosting One person can’t cover strategy, design, video and ads well
Agency ৳15,000 – ৳1,50,000+ Content, ads and Google handled together Junior staff, slow communication, lock-in contracts
In-house hire ৳40,000 – ৳1,00,000+ per person Large brands with daily needs One person rarely has every skill; hiring and turnover

For most local businesses with one to three locations, an agency is the best value. You get a designer, video editor, copywriter and ads specialist for less than the salary of one experienced marketer. See our digital marketing cost guide for detailed price ranges.

What to check before you shortlist

1. Results in businesses like yours

Ask for case studies from your industry or a similar one. Look for numbers that matter to a business: messages, calls, leads, bookings, sales or cost per lead. Reach and followers are nice, but they don’t pay salaries.

2. Their own marketing

An agency that can’t market itself will struggle to market you. Look at their website, Facebook and Instagram. Are they active? Is the content good? Do they show real client work? (Here’s ours, with the numbers.)

3. Clear deliverables

You should know exactly what you get each month: how many posts, how many reels or videos, how many campaigns, how often your Google profile is updated and how often you’ll meet.

4. Transparent pricing

Agencies that publish prices, or explain them clearly on the first call, are usually easier to work with. Be wary of quotes that change every time you ask a question.

5. Who does the work

Some agencies win clients with senior people in the meeting, then hand the account to an intern. Ask who will actually design your posts, edit your videos and run your ads.

6. How they report

A good report answers one question: what did this month’s work bring in? Look for cost per message, cost per lead, bookings and sales, alongside what’s planned next.

7. How they communicate

Will you have a single point of contact? A WhatsApp group? A monthly meeting? How fast do they reply? Slow communication is the most common reason businesses leave agencies.

12 questions to ask before you sign

  1. What exactly will you deliver every month? Get the numbers in writing.
  2. Is the ad budget included or separate? It should almost always be separate, so you can see where it goes.
  3. Can you show results from a business like mine? Ask for real numbers, not just screenshots of likes.
  4. Who will work on my account day to day?
  5. How will you measure success? Expect cost per lead, messages, bookings or sales.
  6. How often will we review results together?
  7. Will I own my page, ad account, pixel and content? The answer must be yes.
  8. How many revisions do I get on content?
  9. How fast do you turn around designs and videos?
  10. What happens in the first 30 days? A good agency has a clear onboarding plan.
  11. What’s the minimum contract, and how do I end it?
  12. What would you do differently from what I’m doing now? This shows whether they’ve actually looked at your business.

7 red flags that predict a bad fit

  1. Guaranteed results. Nobody can promise “10,000 followers” or “100 sales” before testing. Guarantees usually mean fake followers or vanity numbers.
  2. They won’t give you ownership. If the agency creates the ad account in their name and won’t add you as owner, walk away.
  3. Reports full of likes and reach. These numbers look big but say nothing about customers.
  4. Prices that are far too low. A ৳5,000 “complete social media package” means templates, boosting and no strategy.
  5. Long lock-in contracts. A 12-month contract with heavy exit penalties protects the agency, not you.
  6. No questions about your business. If they pitch before asking about your customers, margins and goals, they’re selling a package, not solving a problem.
  7. Buying followers or engagement. It damages your reach and credibility. Ask directly.

How to compare agency quotes fairly

When you have two or three proposals, put them side by side and compare what each one actually delivers. Here’s an example of how three real-looking quotes can compare:

What to compare Agency A Agency B Agency C
Monthly fee ৳15,000 ৳35,000 ৳60,000
Designed posts per month 8 (templates) 10 12
Reels and videos per month 0 4 6
Ad campaigns managed Boosting only 1 campaign 2 campaigns
Google Maps profile included No Yes Yes
Ad budget separate and approved by you No, mixed into fee Yes Yes
Reporting Screenshots of likes Monthly report and meeting Fortnightly report and meeting
Minimum contract 12 months 3 months 6 months
You own the page and ad account Unclear Yes Yes

Agency A looks cheapest, but it delivers templates, boosting and no reporting, and locks you in for a year. Agency B costs more but delivers original content, video, a real campaign and Google Maps, with a short contract. Divide each fee by what you actually get, and the cheapest quote often turns out to be the most expensive per useful piece of work.

Use the same rows when you compare your own quotes. If an agency can’t fill in a row clearly, ask them to.

What a good first 90 days looks like

  • Month 1: audit of your pages, ads and Google profile, a content plan, brand refresh, first campaigns live and tracking set up.
  • Month 2: testing different ads, offers and audiences; cutting what doesn’t work; more content in the formats that perform.
  • Month 3: scaling the best campaigns, a clear view of cost per lead or sale, and a plan for the next quarter.

If, after three months, an agency can’t tell you what each taka returned, it’s time to move on.

How we work at WAVE

We built WAVE around the problems business owners told us about:

  • Published prices. Our monthly packages start at ৳35,000, with every deliverable listed.
  • Ad budget stays yours. It’s separate from our fee, approved by you and paid directly to Meta.
  • You own everything. Your page, ad account and content always stay in your name.
  • Reports in business terms. We track messages, calls, leads and sales, then review them with you every month.
  • Real work to show. See our case studies for the campaigns and content we run.

The bottom line

Choosing an agency isn’t about the biggest name or the lowest price. It’s about finding a team that understands your customers, shows you exactly what they’ll deliver, measures results in customers, and lets you keep ownership of everything. Ask the 12 questions, watch for the 7 red flags and compare quotes on value, not price.

Frequently asked questions

What should I look for in a digital marketing agency?

Look for real results in your industry, clear monthly deliverables, transparent reporting on leads and sales, published or clearly explained prices, and confirmation that you'll own your page, ad account and content.

How much does a digital marketing agency cost in Bangladesh?

Most small and mid-sized businesses pay ৳15,000 to ৳1,00,000 a month for agency work, depending on how much content and how many channels are included. Ad spend is paid separately.

Should I hire a freelancer or an agency?

A freelancer is a good fit for one task, like design or simple boosting. An agency suits businesses that want strategy, content, video, ads and reporting handled together by one accountable team.

How long should a contract with a marketing agency be?

Three months is a fair first commitment, long enough to see real results. Be careful with contracts that lock you in for a year with no way out if results don't come.

Who should own my Facebook page and ad account?

You should. The agency should be added as a partner or admin through Meta Business Suite, but the business should always remain the owner of the page, ad account, pixel and all content.
